On November 19 and 20, 2026, GAMM hosts the third edition of Checkpoint Festival, two days dedicated to video games as a form of cultural expression, a creative language, and a phenomenon able to engage with very different worlds. Admission is free.
Video games are not just entertainment: they are an ever-evolving language, a ground for artistic and technological experimentation, and a cultural phenomenon that cuts across generations, disciplines and communities. This is the perspective behind the third edition of Checkpoint Festival, taking place on Thursday, November 19 and Friday, November 20, 2026 at GAMM – Rome’s Video Game Museum.
For two days, the museum will become a meeting point for industry professionals, developers, scholars, students, enthusiasts and the simply curious, with the aim of exploring the world of video games in all its dimensions. From authorship to Italian game development, from the relationship with cinema and pop culture to education, from the history of the medium to interactive works, the festival will offer opportunities for discussion and in-depth exploration of the present and future of video games.
Checkpoint Festival is part of GAMM’s mission to promote knowledge and appreciation of video games as cultural heritage, fostering dialogue between the industry, cultural institutions, the world of education and the public. It is an opportunity to look at video games not only as products to be played, but also as works to be studied, narrated and understood.
Alongside the talks and in-depth sessions, there will be plenty of moments for sharing and socializing, so that the museum can be experienced as a space open to dialogue and participation.
Checkpoint Festival – Third Edition 2026 will take place on November 19 and 20 at GAMM – Rome’s Video Game Museum, with free admission.
