On October 17, 2026, GAMM – Rome’s Video Game Museum will dedicate an entire day to one of the most important franchises in video game history: Street Fighter.
From 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, the museum will host a program of activities designed for fans, gamers, cosplayers, and curious visitors, featuring tournaments, challenges, live illustration, martial arts demonstrations, and a panel exploring the relationship between video games and cinema.
The day will also be an opportunity to explore the influence Street Fighter has had far beyond the world of video games, becoming over the years a phenomenon spanning comics, animation, cinema, martial arts, and pop culture.
A Full Day Dedicated to Street Fighter
Throughout the day, visitors will be joined by Francis Nightingale, an artist specializing in trading card illustrations, who will be present for live drawing sessions. The audience will be able to watch his illustrations come to life and meet the artist during his time at the museum.
At 10:30 AM, the program will officially begin with the first Street Fighter cosplay parade, followed by a dedicated photo moment for participants.
At 11:00 AM, it will be time for a video game challenge with the Street Fighter II Turbo: Cosplayer Challenge. Visitors will be able to face the cosplayers directly on the Street Fighter II Turbo arcade cabinet in a competition combining gaming and entertainment. The prize will be a Street Fighter Funko Pop! featuring Ryu.
At 12:30 PM, art will once again take center stage with Francis Nightingale’s Live Illustration Show. The drawing session will be projected onto GAMM’s big screen, allowing the audience to follow the creation of the artwork step by step.
The afternoon will begin at 3:00 PM with a second cosplay parade, this time accompanied by a live martial arts demonstration. The event will connect the world of Street Fighter with the disciplines and techniques that have helped shape the identity of the series.
Tournaments and Competitions
At 3:30 PM, video games will once again take center stage with the Street Fighter 6 tournament, held on PlayStation 5. Participants will be able to compete in a tournament dedicated to the latest installment in the series, with a Street Fighter II T-shirt awarded to the winner.
At 6:15 PM, it will be time for the Street Fighter Quiz, a roughly 30-minute challenge dedicated to the history of the series, its characters, and the video games that have shaped its evolution.
The day will conclude at 7:00 PM with the drawing for the final prize: a cooperative board game set in the Street Fighter universe.
Street Fighter Between Cinema and Video Games
One of the central events of the day will be the 5:00 PM panel, “Street Fighter Between Cinema and Video Games.”
The discussion will explore the relationship between the two mediums and the ways in which the imagery and themes of martial arts have been reinterpreted and represented through video games and cinema. Street Fighter is a particularly significant example of how a universe born in video games has been able to expand across different forms of entertainment and creative languages, becoming part of the collective imagination.
The panel will therefore offer an opportunity to look at the series not only as one of the most famous fighting game franchises, but also as a cultural phenomenon capable of spanning generations and different media.
