For one day, enthusiasts, families, and curious visitors alike will come together to celebrate one of the most important chapters in the history of video games.

### The 2026 Tribute: Space Invaders

Each edition of the European Arcade Heritage Day pays tribute to a video game that has left a lasting mark on the history of the medium. For 2026, the spotlight falls on *Space Invaders*, the iconic title developed by Taito in 1978.

Widely regarded as one of the most influential video games of all time, *Space Invaders* helped transform gaming from a technological curiosity into a global cultural phenomenon. Its success marked the beginning of the golden age of arcade gaming and profoundly influenced generations of developers and players.

### A Europe-Wide Celebration

GAMM will participate in the event alongside several leading European institutions dedicated to the history of video games and computing, including Muvic.cat and the Museu del Joguet in Catalonia, the Retro Computer Museum in the United Kingdom, and ArcadeHry Prague in the Czech Republic.

At 12:00 PM (CEST), an online presentation featuring all participating museums will be streamed through the official channels of the European Pixel League, giving audiences the opportunity to discover the institutions involved and learn more about their work in preserving video game heritage.
